Rev 12.3 is a minor release for our newer software. Quite a few minor errors have been corrected, and several enhancements have been made. In particular, any non-printing character is now considered "white space", so that tokens can be separated with tabs, control characters, etc. Also, the maximum length of a logical line has been increased from 1024 characters to 3072 characters and the length of a single record has been increased on some machines (UNIX and 386) to 150 bytes. So that these "long lines" can be properly reported, the output echo and the results of a &TYPE are now split so that the properly fit on a page. On some UNIX machines the programs can now determine the length of the window so that using &DEVICE -TPGLEN is no longer necessary.
The &LOOP construct has been broadened so that one can now have a "while" over a specified list of tokens. This makes most loops easier to read and to define. Several string functions have been replaced with two new ones &PART and &BODY which are capable of providing much more information. The deleted functions are &CG, &WEIGHT, &RADII, &EXTNODES, and &EXTREME.
The model conversion capability has been increased so that INTRA models can now be processed, and some new features have been included in the SACS conversion. The CASES -DURATION command has been changed so that one can now add durations to an existing one. This give the capability to define more than 200 spectra for an individual duration.
The commands which define the shape data base has been changed so that the section moduli and rt no longer need to be defined. Also, two new options -BY and -BZ have been added to the element definition command so that one can override the buckling length about a single axis. One can now define a tube inside a tube so that a grouted pile can be easily analyzed.
The computation of pile/soil interaction has been improved so that it is quite a bit faster. A new command, PILE_DESIGN, has been added to the Connector Design Menu so that the details of pile behavior can be reported and analyzed.
Several improvements have been made in the rod element and pipe/stinger assemblies. One can now decrease the time step used for rod elements without altering the basic time step. Also, one can define an additional spring at the end of a rod element with the -SEND option on the rod class definition.
One can now have contents in elements in addition to internal pressure, and one can now define a pipe assembly without any rollers and which is vertical. This allows for the analysis of rigid risers with or without tensioners.
The option -LINES on the &INSTATE command has been changed so that one can now specify the lines which will be changed. Also, the algorithm has been extended so that one can use this option with a pipe attached to a system. This change makes the old form of the command obsolete.
