What Is New In Rev 7.00

New Grahical User Interface:

A new Graphical User Interface is now available. At this time, this interface is designed to render GL graphics, and to retrieve and display information from the MOSES database. For instance, the user can now navigate a model, click on a structural element and display the stress ratio, section properties and other pertinent information in the sidebar to the right of the displayed picture. The selected segment of the selected element is highlighted in a different color, showing its relative location in the model. Structural elements are shown in their full extruded shape, which assists in understanding the model layout, and can be useful in identifying clashes or interferences.

Information can be obtained for other types of elements in a MOSES model in a similar fashion. Clicking on a panel element will show the area and coordinates of the ends of the panel. Clicking on a mooring line connector element will show the diameter and weight per length of the element. To use this new feature, simply specify &PICTURE -RENDER GL from the MOSES command prompt, or select "Do gl Pictures" from the "Pictures" menu on the MOSES toolbar. Click Here to see the documentation. Also, you may want to look into a better video card. Click here for a discussion.

Online Help Is Available From Inside MOSES:

A "Help" button is now available on the MOSES toolbar. When activated, a separate browser window will appear, giving you access to the same manual available on-line from within MOSES.

General Changes:

  • The program MAINTAIN has been retired. Most of its functionality have been put into the installer and the remaining tasks are now in the MOSES Customize menu.

Pictures:

Quite a few changes have been made in the way pictures can defined and selected. In particular:

  • The ways to alter a given view of a picture has changed. One now uses the the cursor and display keys to move around in a picture. Click Here to see documentation of the new scheme.
  • A new type of color Selector, flooded, has been added to the picture color selection. This allows one to show the flooded beams. Click Here to see the documentation.
  • The -POINTS and -CONNECTORs options of &PICTURE have changed. In the past, one could specify YES or NO and then either all of the objects or none of them would be plotted. Now, one can specify a selector and only those selected will be plotted. Also, a new option -ONE_VERTEX has been added. This controls showing the "single vertex" lines such as load groups. Click Here to see the documentation.

Customization:

The moses.cus file has changed. It still contains all of the basic MOSES commands that set up MOSES for your situation, but the variables at the top of the file have been deleted and moved to a new file moses.ini or .moses.ini. Click Here to see documentation of the new scheme.

What No Longer Works:

The key mapping has been changed. No "alt" keys on the basic keyboard are used, and the picture changing keys have all changed. Click Here to see documentation of the new scheme.

What Answers Will Change:
